Kit Required
What kit do you need to start attending events?
To participate on the battlefield as a combatant, you must attend our training sessions and pass a proficiency test for each weapon you intend to use during any performance.
Additionally, all combatants must meet the minimum kit requirements, which include appropriate head, hand and torso protection. Specific gear guidelines and recommendations dependent on skill can be discussed with the Master of Sword at training sessions.
To join the archery displays and take your place on the archer line during battles, you will appropriate head protection, and have your own bow. While you may be able to borrow a bow whilst learning, its recommended that you have your own for displays. You may also wish to invest in a quiver, and gloves for added protection when shooting.
As with combatants, you are required to attend training sessions and pass a proficiency test before participating in demonstrations and on the battlefield.
For further guidance, please discuss with the Archery Captain.
To attend events with our Living History group, you will need a basic soft kit (era appropriate clothing), and a few essential camp items. These include a wooden stool or chair (or a camping chair covered with a plain blanket) and a wooden, horn, clay or other era appropriate mug or cup. If you plan to eat in front of the public, you will also need a wooden plate/bowl and a spoon and knife.
For further guidance, please discuss with the Living History Leads.
